Meet Fatih Bildirici: connecting engineering with human judgment

Meet the ASELSAN specialist and researcher whose work connects software systems, explainable AI, cognitive science, and public education.

Fatih Bildirici works across boundaries that are often treated as separate: software engineering, artificial intelligence, organizational systems, and the way people understand technical decisions.

He is a senior specialist at ASELSAN, a PhD candidate in Artificial Intelligence at Ankara University, and an AI Research Fellow at the university’s ANLAM-Net Lab. His academic route also includes ongoing study in Cognitive Science at Middle East Technical University.

More than a model-level question

The ANLAM-Net team profile places Fatih’s research around explainable AI, human-centred natural-language processing, language-model evaluation, faithful reasoning, and practical systems for Turkish.

His submitted biography makes the scope wider. Explainability is not only a choice of interpretation technique. It also affects decision quality, risk, auditability, human oversight, and whether uncertainty is communicated honestly.

That framing connects the model to the organization around it. An explanation may be technically correct and still fail if the person receiving it cannot use it to make a better decision. Conversely, a simple explanation can create false confidence when it hides important limits.

Research across technical and organizational systems

Fatih’s publication record covers more than one discipline. A 2024 paper examined open-source development as one route toward more transparent and responsible AI. Later co-authored work explored an AI-supported career platform using machine learning and natural-language processing.

His 2026 publications include research on data-driven configuration and performance in microservice systems, as well as incentive design in software-development processes. The topics differ, but each asks how a technical mechanism behaves inside a larger human or organizational system.

We should not turn that range into a claim that every field has one answer. The more grounded observation is that Fatih repeatedly studies the interface between a working system and the people expected to trust, manage, or improve it.

Making technical work discussable

Outside formal research, Fatih creates and hosts the Turkish-language podcast and newsletter Otostopçunun Yapay Zeka Rehberi.

The archive moves between research papers, technical concepts, organizational adoption, and the wider consequences of AI. Audience numbers would date quickly, but the format itself is evidence of a sustained public practice: take a difficult technical subject, keep its uncertainty intact, and make it discussable beyond a narrow specialist group.

That work complements his self-maintained academic profile, where engineering experience and ongoing study appear together rather than as separate identities.
